Follow on Google News | Could Facebook Be Giving All Their Profits To Charity?By: Sharitabl While Facebook does participate in a handful of modest philanthropic initiatives, their total charitable contributions account for a mere fraction of their overall revenue. Although the idea of giving their profits away for the good of humanity may seem like a good idea, they currently have no intentions of parting with their enormous stockpile any time soon. However, the social network site "Sharitabl" plans to do just that, by giving nearly all of it's revenues to charitable causes around the globe. "If you look at the business of Facebook, you begin to realize, that they don't provide any especially unique services. They make billions of dollars by simply hosting a platform where you and I post our profiles, and share our lives with our friends and contacts. They're not building rockets, solving world hunger, or curing diseases. Their financial empire relies on us, and they continue to use our content and social reach to rake in enormous profits." said Blake Lind the Founder of Sharitabl. "It's the people's content, and the revenue belongs to them. Sharitabl will act as a steward for these funds, which will be passed on to charitable foundations, chosen by our users." Lind said. Lind went on to discuss the impact of this massive financial stream, and what it would do for the lives of millions of people around the world, and how it would benefit the environment. He also wanted be clear, that Sharitabl does not collect donations, or promote individual charities, rather they simply shift the huge advertising revenues away from the corporate conglomerate, and move it to charitable causes for good. This initiative is a prime example of how the landscape of social media is constantly changing and evolving. People are demanding more control, and they want to feel like they're a part of something, and feel like what they do has real meaning, and can make a difference. Only time will tell how many people will be willing to leave Facebook for this new social initiative. But one things is for certain, it's an intriguing concept that is sure to stir up conversations around the water cooler. End
