Follow on Google News | NEW BOOK RELEASE - Ruins, by Terence DonoghueFirst Edition Design Publishing is excited to announce today that it has released Ruins, by Terence Donoghue, an astounding and adventurous saga of Americans in Iran during its revolution.
Ruins interweaves stories, characters, and history into a colorful and authentic portrait of Iran as its revolution is gathering force. It chronicles Walt's adventures and misadventures, his love affairs and personal battles, while it charts his growing understanding of Iranians and their history. Things reach a crisis when another American betrays Walt's best friend, an Iranian, to the Shah's secret police. Walt exacts a bloody revenge and then, while riots are breaking out around him, must flee Iran. The novel explores how belief in America the exceptional could have played a role in the Iranian Revolution. Author Terence Donoghue reflects on the mindset behind his novel … “Ruins was a project germinating in my mind for years before I seriously started writing it. At first the focus was the wondrous and adventurous experiences of the young American protagonist. But the focus gradually widened to encompass the political and historical implications of what was then happening in Iran as well as the United States’ role in it. Ruins explores how the culturally myopic involvement of Americans in Iran contributed to the anti-American animus behind the Iranian Revolution.” Terence Donoghue recently retired from Apple, Inc. to devote himself to writing fiction. Ruins is his first novel. It is based on his experiences in Isfahan, Iran between March 1976 and May 1978. Mr. Donoghue lives in San Mateo, California, with his wife Debra and (occasionally) Ruins: is being released globally in over 140 countries in multiple media types, including eBook, paperback.
