German Indie Film "Innenkind" takes top honors at NYC Film Festival

NEW YORK - March 24, 2015 - PRLog -- Indie film "Innenkind" (http://www.innenkind.de/), directed by Berlin Germany's Thomas Lee took home top honors at the recent Winter Film Awards Independent Film Festival, which ran from February 25-28 2015 in New York City.

The Festival (http://winterfilmawards.com/) focuses on showcasing emerging filmmakers from all genres from around the world. The 4th Annual Festival ran Feb 26-28 with 3 days of screenings, networking events and glittering after-parties. The event offered something for everyone, highlighting the dynamic range of storytelling the global indie filmmaking community has to offer. Among the 76 awesome films selected were a diverse mix of documentaries, shorts, features, animation, music videos and horror films from all over the world.

Best Picture winner Innenkind tells the story of Suzanna, who is facing the ruins of her marriage. Her husband Rudolph is in despair, trying to cope with her extreme mood swings. During the daytime, she locks herself inside her apartment; at night, she is wandering through the empty Berlin streets. Even with her own family, Suzanna has no more contact as she tries to cope with her situation and her traumatic experiences. In the mirror she sees a person she does not know — herself. In a vicious circle of solitude and depression she finally turns to strangers to find remedy.

The drama was produced by Oliver Boy and directed by Thomas Lee, and stars
Josephine Schmidt, Friedericke Wagner, Alma Rehberg, Jens Kauffmann, Guntbert Warns, Marc Ben Puch and Rainer Guldener.
