New Avengers Trailer to over-analyze

not going to lie. This new trailer is probably the best piece of marketing material for the highly-anticipate Avengers Age of Ultron I’ve seen yet. I’ve been more or less underwhelmed (in a good way) by the stuff that has been released so far

ST. PAUL, Minn. - March 21, 2015 - PRLog -- But this is pretty damn cool. I mentioned earlier that I’ve been underwhelmed in a good way, and what I mean is, I don’t believe I’ve seen many of the money shots that are to come. The best shots to-date are probably the Hulk vs Hulkbuster stuff, and I’m glad we’ve only seen a little bit of it and I’m glad we’ve only seen Visions eye….Personally, I hope I don’t see the Vision until the movie.

It reminds me of being a fan of a band or artist. They release that first track and you’re like “well, if this is the best they can do—I will probably be underwhelmed, but if this track is the 6th or 7th best song on the album, we’re in for something special.”

I think the Avengers are playing this like it’s the latter…..They’re giving us the 6th or 7th best song on the album…But you can tell they are saving their chart-topping banger for the album release.

Marvel has teased this big battle of the Avengers vs the Ultron army, and they are framing it like it’s the climatic battle sequence, similar to how Avengers 1 ended vs the Chitauri army…But I think that’s part of the genius…I don’t think Avengers Age of Ultron is ending like that, Joss Whedon and Marvel are too smart for that. Like I said, I think that’s going to be the 5th best song on an album full of super-hits.

Top 3 Moments in this Avengers Age of Ultron trailer

3) Hawkeye saying “you step out that door, you’re an Avenger”:
It’s openly discussed that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver start off the movie as bad guys/gals, so I can only assume that he is saying this to them. I like it because it signifies that they all view this as a team. The more this movie can be about the team the better it’s going to be.

2) Captain America/Thor batting practice: There is a cool moment where Thor serves up a lightning-charged hammer and Cap bats it with his shield. Looks really cool and further builds on the team concept and them working together etc. Plus, it’s just fun.

1) Did Stark magnetize Cap’s shield? It looks like Cap now has some outfitting where he can get his shield to come back to him via magnetism. I’m wondering if Stark made that for him…Either way this finally will help solve the question of why he never loses that damn shield.

Is someone going to die in Avengers Age of Ultron?

A report from Bleeding Cool has surfaced that Quicksilver might be biting the bullet in this movie. It has quickly been refuted by internet vet Devin Faraci of Bad Ass Digest:

But still, it seems to stand reason that someone will die in Age of Ultron. Quicksilver seems like a weird choice as they are just introducing him in this movie (however, maybe that is the genius of this…Keep us internet smarks off Marvel’s scent).

My money is still on Hawkeye. As the Marvel Universe is ever-expanding, and more heroes are been developed, Hawkeye’s usefulness continues to go down-hill. Black Widow is the better character in the movies, she gives the universe more diversity and serves the role of being the “just human” character fine. My conclusion: Hawkeye is expendable.

Whedon discuss the cast

Paul Bettany has a stillness that is beyond British”

-Joss Whedon

Conclusion: Joss Whedon is a boss.

Seriously though. Marvel has done a lot of stuff right with the Avengers and building this universe, but Kevin Feige can win Executive of the Year for bringing Joss Whedon to make Avengers work. I could rave on and on about why Whedon is so essential, but I think it’s easier to just say: Whedon is the MVP of the Avengers.

It’s also why I’m skeptical that what DC is doing is going to work. It’s not that the characters are bad or the potential for a great universe is there,  but they don’t have a Kevin Feige and Zach Snyder is no Joss Whedon.

As a fan of these movies, I’m extremely hopeful Joss Whedon is going to return for Avengers: Infinity War.

There are rumors with a lot of heat on the internet that Anthony and Joe Russo, directors of Captain America: Winter Soldier and the up-coming Captain America: Civil War, will be directing the Avengers: Infinity War movies (it’s a two-part film) (http://screenrant.com/avengers-3-4-infinity-war-russo-bro...). Which, that would be fine, I think they are good directors and seem to have a very good grasp on these films…But Whedon just makes this stuff work.

Either way, I’m sure it’ll be good. Or it won’t. Who knows?
