IATP Urges Trampoline Parks and Facilities to Adhere to ASTM International Standards

ATLANTA - March 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Hershey, Pa - The indoor trampoline park industry is one of the fastest growing segments of the indoor attractions industry. It is estimated that by the end of 2015 there will be over 550 indoor trampoline parks open worldwide.  As the industry continues to grow globally, the International Association of Trampoline Parks (IATP) number one focus will be to promote safety standards and provide resources to encourage patron education to ensure park owners both in the United States and abroad are operating their parks with optimal jumper’s safety as their number one priority.

The IATP has worked with lawmakers in Michigan and Arizona to develop comprehensive indoor trampoline park regulation and we welcome the opportunity to work with the Georgia Legislature to pass legislation that will provide uniformity within the industry.

Until such legislation is enacted, IATP Chairman Jeff Platt stated, “The IATP promotes the safety recommendations and standards established by the ASTM International. ASTM F-2970 which specifically address the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of indoor trampoline parks and establish a standard level of construction and operational conformity among parks.”

Dave Schaeffer, Chairman of the ASTM Trampoline Court Task Group added, “The core objective of the ASTM Trampoline Court Task Group is to write standards that will increase the level of safety across our industry.  Our comprehensive standard has served as a guiding principal for legislation in other states that pursued indoor trampoline park regulation.”

The IATP was created in 2012 under the guiding principles of ensuring the integrity, transparency and innovation of the indoor trampoline park industry and to promote safe operations, facilitate commercial success and stimulate growth. It is the mission of the IATP to be regarded as an essential resource and the international authority for our industry.
