IJIS Institute Releases New Court, Emerging Technology White Papers

ASHBURN, Va. - March 20, 2015 - PRLog -- The IJIS Institute – a nonprofit organization focused on mission-critical information sharing for justice, public safety, and homeland security – has released three new resources to assist the information sharing and safeguarding community with various topics of interest.

The IJIS Institute’s Courts Advisory Committee released two of the resources earlier in the year, including:

A white paper entitled The Role of Courts in Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS). The criminal justice agencies and courts create, share, and publish significant amounts of information within the CJIS. This white paper focuses on the exchange of information within that community.

An informational brief entitled Cloud Computing for the Courts. Courts today are plagued with rising upfront software licensing costs and operational expenditures that make it difficult to take the next step to modernize their information systems. Cloud computing provides alternative solutions. This brief discusses those alternatives and provides an introduction to cloud computing for courts along with benefits and challenges.

The IJIS Institute’s Emerging Technologies Advisory Committee recently released a new white paper entitled Predictive Analytics: A Critical Tool Supporting Evidence-based Decision Making. Predictive analytics is playing a key role in improving the ability to anticipate events in order to be proactive in many areas today. The purpose of this white paper is to clarify the meaning and intent of predicting future activity in the justice and public safety domain, provide insight into what predictive analytics can deliver, and highlight examples of predictive technologies being used in this environment today.
