Ventura College Foundation Board Expands

New board members have strong ties to the college and community
 
VENTURA, Calif. - March 19, 2015 - PRLog -- Ventura College Foundation’s Executive Director Norbert Tan has announced that six community members have joined its board of directors. The new members—all Ventura County residents—bring a mix of community engagement, business experience and strong ties to the college. New board members include consultant Erin Prewitt, retiree Ken Collin, attorney Matt LeVere, Ventura College alum Michael Klausler; experienced fundraiser Vicki Murphy, and retired college professor Rene Rodriguez.

“Our new board members bring an infectious enthusiasm for the work that we do on behalf of the college and its students, and have a great deal of fundraising and community outreach experience, which is vital to the Foundation’s sustained viability,” said David Bianco, nominating committee chair of the Ventura College Foundation board of directors.

Prewitt is a speaker, trainer and consultant, specializing in skill building and communication, organizational and personal development, and community organizational collaboration. She designs professional workshops and presentations to maximize individual and corporate success. A former longtime volunteer with Casa Pacifica Centers for Children and Families, she and her siblings attended Ventura College.

Collin was president of Westaironics, an avionic display panel company, and serves on a home owners association board and a yacht club board. His grandson attended Ventura College.

LeVere is an attorney with Jones & Lester, LLP, where he advises clients in all aspects of business and real estate matters. LeVere attended Ventura College while in high school, which helped him prepare for his undergraduate work at Pepperdine University.

Klausler is an associate of Moss Adams, specializing in tax and audit practices. Prior to completing his MBA at the Anderson School of Management at UCLA and his MPA at Syracuse University, Michael and his fiancée attended Ventura College.

Murphy is chief advancement officer and director of alumni services atCasa Pacifica and a foster youth advocate. She has five children, all of whom attended community colleges.

Rodriguez currently leads the Ventura County Community College District Retirees’ Association. He was a professor of math at Ventura College and held leadership positions at all three district community colleges.

The Ventura College Foundation’s board of directors is led by John Woolley, chair; Ruth Hemming, vice-chair; Mike Montoya, treasurer; Sharon Watts Woolley, secretary; Donna Santo, immediate past chair; Greg Gillespie, Ventura College president; and Norbert Tan, executive director.

Established in 1983, the Ventura College Foundation provides financial support to the students and the programs of Ventura College to facilitate student success and grow the impact and legacy of Ventura College as a vital community asset.
