Nelson's Ice Cream Launches Dutch Country Organic Ice Cream

ROYERSFORD, Pa. - March 19, 2015 - PRLog -- Nelson's Creamery LLC, dba Nelson's Ice Cream (www.nelsonsicecream.com) today introduced Nelson's Dutch Country Organic ice cream. Nelson's has been making and selling ice cream mix, premium (12% Butterfat) and super-premium (16% Butterfat) ice cream and ice cream novelties in Royersford, Montgomery County PA for 80 years. Dutch Country Organic ice cream will be made using the same artisinal, hand-packed production methods as the popular Dutch Farms ice cream.

"There's no reason organic ice cream should not taste as good as non-organic ice cream. Our Dutch Country Organic ice cream will taste very similar to our super-premium Dutch Farms ice cream. All of the ingredients are the highest quality we can source and are certified organic. Our organic milk and cream comes from local dairies. We make our ice cream right here in Royersford, preparing our mix from scratch, and hand-packing the containers in the same way we've been doing it for 80 years", said David Nelson, SR VP of Production and a third generation family ice cream maker. "A lot of other ice cream producers buy their mix from someone else and then flavor it, or they have someone else produce and package it for them."

The trend towards organic milk and ice cream has seen tremendous growth due to the increased awareness of its health benefits, and tests have shown higher levels of Vitamin E, Omega 3 essential fatty acids, beta carotene, and other antioxidants.

"With the introduction of Dutch Country Organic ice cream, Nelson's is seeking additional retailers that offer quality ice cream products", said John Starbuck, VP Sales and Marketing. Dutch Country Organic ice cream will initially be offered in pint containers and 3 gallon bulk cans for scooping. Nelson's Ice Cream is the only major ice cream manufacturer still operating in the Philadelphia area. Starting as a dairy in 1916, a plant was constructed during the Great Depression in the 1920's, and ice cream production began in 1935.
