PURELAB Chorus makes a spectacle

Veolia Water Technologies new PURELAB Chorus solves a process water problem
By: Veolia Water Technologies

HIGH WYCOMBE, U.K. - March 19, 2015 - PRLog -- Veolia has supplied a new PURELAB® Chorus 3 water purification system to spectacle lens manufacturers the Norville Group. Gloucester based Norville provides a comprehensive high-tech lens coating service, specialising in multi anti-reflection thin coats, as well as hydrophobic (anti-fog) and mirror coatings, using the very latest equipment available. The coating process use about 50 litres per day of water for chemical etching and ultrasonic cleaning which during some stages requires heated water. The mains water supplied to the factory is very hard and caused problems in the process of scale formation in the water heating units, necessitating replacement at three month intervals.

Veolia provided Norville with the PURELAB® Chorus 3 that uses advanced reverse osmosis technology to produce up to 10 litres per hour of Type III water – soft and of low dissolved solids content and a 30 litre purified water reservoir, installed at mezzanine level, together with a booster pump and controls to provide the additional pressure needed. The elevated reservoir supplies purified water to the systems under gravity head. The higher water quality has improved the coating process and eliminated heater replacement. Cost savings are estimated to be £8,000 - £10,000 per annum, giving a payback of less than six months.

The PURELAB® Chorus range can be customized to deliver water purity from Type III to Type I or I+ ultrapure standards and its space saving design results in an integral, compact unit which can be configured in stackable, bench top, wall mounted or under bench versions to fit any laboratory or work space.
