Fine Artist, John Monson selected by Sundance Cinemas via StudioVox for exclusive Gallery Exhibition

SEATTLE - March 18, 2015 - PRLog -- Fine Art Painter John Monson was selected by Sundance Cinemas Gallery of Robert Redford's Sundance Group for an exclusive exhibition at their Sundance Cinema Gallery in Seattle, WA.  The artist’s work was chosen from a group of local artists who submitted their work for consideration to Sundance via an exclusive partnership with StudioVox.

John Monson’s exhibition entitled “Sudden Introspectives” will run from March 16 through June 2015.  The exhibit features large-scale painted works of highly textured dynamic abstract images that create interplay between the image and the object resulting in a highly active back & forth perspective shift between image & paint for the viewer. The artist’s work is influenced by his process based philosophy of creating dynamic tensions between textures, form and color relationships that energize the surface while simultaneously creating pictorial depth and a sense of movement and time. He refers to this as “Image-Object" resonance.

Philosophically aligned with such process-based artists as Richard Serra and Chuck Close, John Monson is also inspired by abstract expressionists and has created his unique brand of process that involves applying oil paint to canvas in multiple layers using a variety of tools that rarely includes traditional paint brushes. John Monson says this allows him to avoid direct representation of known forms to further his aims of exploring how the act of painting and the resulting physical object remain vital by affirming humanity in the face of an increasingly dematerializing world. A reception for the artist will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 6PM PST at the Sundance Cinemas Gallery, 4500 9th Avenue Northeast, Seattle, WA 98105.

Sundance Cinemas VP of Marketing and Gallery Curator, Nancy Gribler selected John to exhibit after having an immediate definitive reaction to his work, "Sundance is so happy to be giving John this much deserved acknowledgement by exhibiting his work."
