ATHENS, Greece - March 18, 2015 - PRLog -- ITE Group Plc and ROTA SA will launch the Global Oil&Gas Black Sea and Mediterranean Exhibition and Conference at the Metropolitan Expo on 23 – 24 September 2015 in Athens, Greece.

The Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change of Greece has confirmed their official support.

The event will focus on profiting from existing and potential exploration and production in and around the surrounding countries of the Black, East Mediterranean, Ionian and Aegean Seas. It will also bring together the supply chain for upstream to downstream.

Recent discoveries of large hydrocarbon resources - particularly natural gas - in the offshore Levant Basin have significantly altered the supply-side forecasts for the region. These discoveries have the potential to provide the necessary energy supply to meet growing regional demand and possibly even spur exports.

The Black Sea region also continues to be a highly prospective source of oil and gas both locally and for the rest of Europe with new tendering opportunities on offer, further developments in both shallow and deep-water activities, as well as opportunities in onshore and offshore mature field developments.

The event host country, Greece has launched a second international licencing round which includes 20 blocks offshore in the Ionian Sea off western Greece and south of Crete, as announced by the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change.

Key themes to be addressed at the conference, include: global oil and gas insights; exploration and production; regulatory and risk framework; oil and gas transportation and storage; and downstream developments.

Key exhibiting companies will include, but are not limited to: operators; engineering, procurement and construction companies; exploration companies; geoscience technology and service companies; drilling and down hole technology companies; well completion equipment and well logging companies; enhanced recovery system providers; plus more.

Michael Jacobs, Head of Events, ITE Group Plc states: “ITE Group Plc have been organising world-leading events for over 20 years and one of the most common requests have been for a central business meeting place covering new and profitable opportunities in the South Eastern European region. We’ve listened and are delivering an interactive event created by the industry, for the industry and supported by the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change of Greece”.

George Panorgias, Marketing Manager, ROTA SA states: “South East Europe is a hotspot of activity in the oil and gas sector with projects in exploration and production, pipelines and LNG facilities. With this event, we want to help develop this market into a fully-fledged oil and gas center for the whole of Europe. We invite all interested parties to participate in this exciting event.”

Notes to editors:

Current activities and opportunities within the region include:

·         The Bulgarian Council of Ministries opened a tender for oil and natural gas exploration in two areas: 1-14 Silistar block (6,893 sq km) and 1-22 Teres block (4,032 square sq km).

·         In Romania, exploration is well underway in its Neptun block, estimated so far at 42-84bcm of natural gas, but possibly larger, as shown by new discoveries still being made, such as the recent Domino 2 and Pelican South.

·         The General Directorate of Petroleum Affairs implemented a new licence application procedure in Turkey. As of 24 October 2014, a total of 144 applications have been submitted for 91 different areas by 13 different companies.

·         The operation of TAP via Greece and Albania will occupy the markets significantly over the coming years contributing to the security and diversification of Europe’s energy supply.

·         The construction of the proposed 5 bcm Ionian Adriatic Pipeline (IAP) from Albania, through Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, to Croatia would have the capacity to add further supply to markets in Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe.

·         Recent natural resource tenders have taken place in Croatia and Montenegro.
