1st Annual East Africa Education Conference

Integration of ICT in East African Education and Training Systems: Innovation and Reform Issues

March 17, 2015 - PRLog -- While ICT is considered a principal driver of economic development and social change worldwide, technology alone can only be an enabler, not a driver of development. It is now firmly established that its introduction into schools does not by itself improve the quality of education or raise attainment. Properly formulated and coordinated policies, planning and implementation are needed to harness ICT opportunities into meaningful national development.

A panel of experts at the 1st Annual East Africa Education Conference 2015 to be held at Nairobi Kenya on 14th and 15th April 2015 will focus on using technology to build regional understanding and enhance teaching and learning for all grade levels from early childhood through high level. Other key points to be discussed include:

Technology and education - new school models.

Technologies and funding schemes and how to guarantee equity and quality. Is this region ready?

Leveraging mobile technology, social media to improve education.

New financial model for high quality digital learning.

Prof. Jacob Thuranira, Kaimenyi BDS., MDS., Ph.D., Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Education, Science & Technology will inaugurate this event which will also feature leading government officials from the region.
