NEW Concept For Drastically Enhancing Tornado Warning Systems

HONOLULU - March 16, 2015 - PRLog -- Honolulu, Hawaii March 17th 2015- The `Lo`Lo Project is a tornado research project, that was started March 2014 by April Richelle Vogt, a 25 year old undergraduate at The University of Hawai`i at Manoa after devising a hypothesis that correlates ground level pressure, temperature, and humidity to tornadic activity. Vogt devised a series of experiments intended to test her hypothesis, one of which led to an innovation that will not only allow The `Lo`Lo Project obtain ground level data, but allow meteorologist and forecasters access to data, resulting in enhanced weather forecasts.

Entitled “Totable Weather Engagement and Enhancement Technology” or “T.W.E.E.T.” for short, this microchip design can be added to mobile-devices to obtain surrounding pressure, temperature, and humidity of a given environment and transmit it to the device user and a data center for full analysis in near to real time.  The goal of The `Lo`Lo Project is to expand meteorologists understanding of what tornadoes are, and enhance present day tornado warning systems. The `Lo`Lo Project anticipates that if we are successful in our findings, then we could potentially see an increased lead time of 120 minutes or more with a goal of falsifiability rates of determining hazards zones to diminish by 50% or greater. This would result in diminished death/injury tolls, as well as allow for infrastructure to be better built to withstand tornadic conditions.

Currently, The `Lo`Lo Project is in the process of starting fundraisers, including a kickstarter that is planned to launch March 20th 2015 to raise $60,000 to test T.W.E.E.T.'s design this year. If testing concludes as planned, projections to commercialize T.W.E.E.T. can occur as early as January 2016.
