Artists Invited to “Create Compassion” in 26th Annual Art for Animals

National Anti-Vivisection Society seeks artistic submissions from amateurs and professionals of all ages

CHICAGO - March 16, 2015 - PRLog -- Amateur and professional artists of all ages are invited to participate in the National Anti-Vivisection Society’s (NAVS) 26th annual "Art for Animals" competition.

The theme of this year’s program, “Create Compassion,” asks artists to use their talents to express one of the following concepts:

* Compassion for All Creatures, especially animals exploited in the name of science;
* the sense of freedom inspired by Empty Cages; or
* a scene of Animals in Winter.

Paintings, photographs, prints, drawings and computer graphics will be accepted. The deadline for submissions is May 8, 2015.

Multiple prizes will be awarded, including Best in Show, which will receive $500. NAVS will also recognize first, second and third place winners in child, youth and adult age categories. In addition to cash prizes, artists' credited work may be featured in NAVS’ media, including calendars, greeting cards, newsletters, website and other high-visibility outlets.

The competition, which began in 1990, draws hundreds of entries each year from across the United States, each of which illustrates the important role animals play in our lives.

“For 26 years, NAVS’ Art for Animals has provided an opportunity for people who care about animals to create something that inspires or touches our hearts,” says NAVS’ Executive Director Peggy Cunniff. “These artists’ visions can help us imagine a better world for animals and give us hope to make it happen.”

Full details about NAVS’ Art for Animals, including submission guidelines, a downloadable entry form and a gallery of previous winners, can be found at http://www.navs.org/art. To receive an entry form by mail, call 800-888-NAVS (800-888-6287).
