Follow on Google News | Poricy Park to Host People's Choice Car ShowPoricy Park Conservancy will host it's first, People's Choice Car Show, on Saturday, May 2nd and Sunday, May 3rd, from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
By: Poricy Park Conservancy The show will include an exhibit of Cars of the Decades, 1900 through 2000, as well as an antique tractor display. Awards will be given out on both days, recognizing the exhibitors. New car dealers from Middletown and neighboring towns will also have new cars on display. Car Exhibitors should contact the Nature Center at 732-842-5966, or visit www.PoricyPark.org for sign up sheets. Early bird registration is $10 per vehicle by 4/24 and $15 thereafter. General admission is free to the public. In addition to the Car Show, the weekend at Poricy Park will include the annual Weekend in Old Monmouth activities. Festivities include touring the Revolutionary Era Murray Farmhouse and Barn, hiking through the trails of Poricy Park and enjoying nature and wildlife. The life of Monmouth Militia patriot, Joseph Murray and his family will be showcased with activities such as Colonial children’s games, womanly arts, and cooking over an open hearth. Weekend in Old Monmouth is free and will run 10:00am through 5:00pm on Saturday, May 2nd, and 12:00pm through 5:00pm on Sunday, May 3rd. New this year will be a Spring Plant Sale of seedlings, and simple plants that would have been common to Rebecca Murray such as tomatoes, peppers and herbs. First come first served – prices vary. All community and summer camp programs are run by Poricy Park Conservancy, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, located at 345 Oak Hill Road in Middletown Township. With exceptional ecological resources, the 250 acre historical and nature site makes it one of the largest parks in Monmouth County. The Park offers recreational activities such as magnificent wooded hiking trails, bird watching, pristine pond settings, fishing, and a one-of-a-kind 70 million year-old Cretaceous fossil bed. Poricy Park is home to the 1770 NJ Historic Murray Farmhouse and Barn. The Nature Center is open Monday-Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm and weekends based on scheduled programs.
