Follow on Google News | Yasgur’s Successor Tells His Bethel Story"Story About The Events That Occurred Between Woodstock '69 and present day Bethel Woods Center for the Arts"
By: BethelVerse The Gelish family purchased the iconic property owned by Max Yasgur in 1981. Under their ownership, the family experienced constant remnants of the cultural lore that the concert had sparked in 1969. Charley recounts his many times at the property when he would find droves of people playing music and camping out. He decided to take part in the heritage of the site himself in 1989 when he spontaneously began to organize his first music festival at the Bethel site. With a success in 1989, Charley and his family embarked on a journey to create a large festival of their own, which they called, “Bethel ‘94” The concert attracted many name artists of the era such as The Rascals, Sha Na Na, Canned Heat, Country Joe & The Fish, Arlo Guthrie, Richie Havens, The Soft Parade and more. Over 50,000 people made their way to the Bethel ‘94 festival which lasted for three days. After all these years, Charley Gelish is telling his recollections of his time at the Bethel site. Through pictures, storytelling, music, and video, he will guide the reader through this untold chapter of Bethel. “The Missing Link: Bethel ‘94” book is currently crowdfunding on IndieGoGo and also the official website, BethelVerse.com, tells more information about the story.
