Today the market opened in the red and futures were shining as bright as the sun at high noon. There were many factors influencing traders to pull funds and begin a selling hay day. One of these was unsettling developments in Greek elections. The elections could bring a deadly blow to the Euro zone and bring a new level to the euro debt crisis still going all these years and only growing.

Another factor is the continued drop in oil prices which has global repercussions as well as the possibility to unseat some of our most profitable states in terms of low unemployment rates and increasing household income. Frighteningly enough, more and more strategists see a floor in oil still months away.

A counter intuitive event is also hitting the market, an increasing dollar. Most consumers love the idea of a strong dollar, however it brings it's own risks and the market is taking note. U.S. companies that do business overseas and those sales are recorded in that countries weaker currency are virtually selling them at a discount. Commodities are in focus and continuing to drop. A stronger dollar gives more commodity for the buck which drives the price down. This will affect mining, gem prices, oil companies, and farming.

These are three areas to watch in the coming months and most likely the rest of the year. It might be signaling a great rotation of it's own, out of U.S. export companies and into companies that export to the U.S.
