Follow on Google News | Cure Cabin Fever With Spring Hiking and BikingLebanon, KY’s Gorley Naturalist Trail is spring-scenic and challenging
By: Lebanon Tourist & Convention Commission Not for sissies At 3.2 miles, Gorley Naturalist Trail may seem like a piece of cake, but this path encircling Fagan Branch Reservoir has hilly terrain and steep climbs, providing a good workout to both seasoned hikers and recreational walkers, as well as mountain bikers. Located a mere 10 minutes from downtown Lebanon, this gorgeous pocket of nature is noted for the 47 bridges hikers and bikers cross while traversing the trail. Outdoor lovers can bring their canoe, sailboat or fishing boat with electric motor to the no-fuel Fagan Branch Reservoir. Fishers and anglers can toss in a line for rainbow trout and bass. The Reservoir is home to the Fishing For Kids/Mid-Kentucky Bass Anglers Day, held annually in May. More outdoor cures Another outdoor haven in Lebanon is Sportsman’s Lake, loaded with largemouth and smallmouth bass, catfish, crappie and hybrid bluegill. Built originally in 1952 and reconstructed in 1990 to improve this fishing habitat, it is equipped with a clubhouse, playground and facilities for fishing, picnicking and archery, and has a concrete boat ramp (no gas engines allowed). Popes Creek Ranch is a primitive adventure wonderland for hikers, bikers and bird watchers in the knoblands of Lebanon and Marion County. The 1,100-acre ranch has trails leading up to one of the highest peaks in the county where trail users encounter breathtaking vistas and lookout points. Outdoor adventurers can go RV camping at Popes Creek Ranch, as well and camping in platform tents and a tree house.
