Africa Fixed Broadband Positive Outlook To 2020

BARNET, U.K. - March 13, 2015 - PRLog -- Quantum Web has made an upward revision in its forecast for fixed broadband in Africa.  The 26 countries in scope had a combined population of over 950 million at the end of 2014, with 10 million fixed broadband connections, a penetration rate of 1.15%.   By the end of 2020, broadband connections will have reached 16 million, which equates to a CAGR of 6.5% (vs 2.3% CAGR for the population).

Economic development, regulatory liberalisation, infrastructure improvements and other auspicious factors give us confidence in our positive outlook for fixed broadband in Africa overall.  Looking at countries in particular, we highlight Egypt as the country with the largest broadband base. In excess of 3 million at the moment, Egypt’s fixed broadband connections base will reach more than 5 million connections by the end of 2020.

The fastest growing country is Zimbabwe with 9.6% growth during the same period.
