CHARLOTTE, N.C. - March 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Nothing but respect. That's the motto of the 28-1 Myers Park Lady Mustang basketball team as they focus on Saturday's tough matchup with a 26-3 Southeast Raleigh Bulldog team that has been hampered with injuries this season but is now at full strength.

Myers Park has had quite a playoff run, cruising 5-0 over an eight day period and winning by an average of 20 points a game.

However, Myers Park sees Southeast Raleigh, also last year's final's opponent, as formidable, led by seniors Amber Richardson and Jade Phillips. SE has five seniors, so there is plenty of experience, as well as athleticism, to fuel consistent and tough team defense.

If you listen to coaches, you know Myers Park is not cocky. The coaches take each game at a time, totally focused on performing well as a team. And, officially, the Mustangs are seeded lower than SE Raleigh and will be the visiting team in the state playoff game.

Myers Park has a lot on the line this Sat. First, they have a chance to make history by becoming the only Mecklenburg County 4A high school to ever repeat as state champions.

Secondly, the seniors, D.D. Rogers, Aliyah Mazcyk and Morgan Uptegraff have helped build the Mustang program over several years together. They know they need to work together to accomplish their final and ultimate high school team goals. They talk about "leaving a legacy."

Finally, somewhere in the back of their minds, the Mustangs know if they execute and perform well, they have a chance to travel to New York City and play on national television April 3-4.

The team knows that Southeast Raleigh always fields a very good team. Any let up could spell problems. The basketball program has nothing but respect for SE Raleigh. Count on the Mustangs to leave everything on the floor and never slow down. This could be a team of destiny that reaches heights never seen in Charlotte or Mecklenburg County. The squad knows what's on the line and promise to play hard, hoping that, at the end of the game, they have absolutely no regrets about their performance.
