ST. LOUIS - March 11, 2015 - PRLog -- Unique Music Event Lo-Fi Cherokee puts a broken city and its forgotten history back together. LIVE.

“We need to show the world that we’re more than what’s happening in Ferguson ... that there are so many diverse and talented people doing amazing creative things here. We know it. The world should know, too.”

Bill Streeter, creator of Lo-Fi Cherokee

When the national press parachuted into St. Louis last year, it was easy for them to write headlines pegging the entire region as hopeless. But the humans behind the headlines? Giving their voice a platform is harder to write about. Enter the Lo-Fi Cherokee music festival.

Eighteen *live* performance music videos in a single day on April 11th. All on Cherokee Street, one of the USA’s most diverse, vibrant and artistic enclaves. Through music, and one of its most diverse line-ups yet, LFC plans to bring St. Louis together — showing a side of St. Louis that is steeped in history and grounded in a unique sensibility that’s completely its own.

St. Louis is one of America’s great music cities and it’s time to act like it. Chuck Berry, Miles Davis, Nelly, Ike and Tina Turner, Josephine Baker, Scott Joplin, Jeff Tweedy, Pokey LaFarge  — all either born, bred (or both!) right here on the banks of the Mississippi. The National Blues Museum is slated to open very soon just down the street from where St. Louis’s musical Stagger Lee, Frankie and Johnny first took hold.

Musicians singing St. Louis through history is nothing new. Our musical heritage glues our city together. That’s a story that should stick.
