The United States Polo Association Announces USPA International Intercollegiate Challenge Cup Roster

United States team that will face England in an arena polo match includes top collegiate polo players from UConn, Michigan State, Colorado State and Oregon State.

LAKE WORTH, Fla. - March 11, 2015 - PRLog -- The United States Polo Association® (USPA) today announced that top intercollegiate polo players from the United States and England will compete for the USPA International Intercollegiate Challenge Cup on Saturday March, 14 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.  The match immediately precedes the prestigious pro-arena Townsend International Challenge Cup match between the United States and England.

This arena polo match is an outgrowth of a recently inaugurated tradition of international competition between two national intercollegiate polo programs, the United States Polo Association Interscholastic & Intercollegiate (I/I) Polo program and the United Kingdom’s Schools & Universities Polo Association (SUPA).  This is the third time the teams are competing for the International Intercollegiate Challenge Cup.  The United States leads the series 2-0.

The United States team is comprised of players representing each of the United States Polo Association’s four I/I regions:

Northeastern: Drew Gale of Somers, Connecticut and the University of Connecticut polo team

Southeastern: Hunter Jelsch of China, Michigan and the Michigan State University polo team

Central: Kareem Rosser of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the Colorado State University polo team

Western: Carina Deck of San Diego, California and the Oregon State University polo team

“The I/I committee is grateful to the USPA Board of Governors for supporting this important effort,” said Duncan Huyler, Chairman of Interscholastic and Intercollegiate Polo for the United States Polo Association.  “The young men and women who participate in this event have represented polo in this country at the highest levels both through their sportsmanship and playing ability. We are excited to continue this wonderful tradition.”
