WASHINGTON - March 10, 2015 - PRLog -- For the third year, the DC Web and Digital Media Fest will showcase the best in online filmmaking. Sponsored by 20/20 Productions, the Saturday May 2, event at the Goethe-Institute Washington, 812 7th Street Northwest, will feature the best in Web series ranging from comedy, drama, horror and soap opera. Along with the best online films, the festival also highlights new digital media, such as gaming and app development.

Founder of 20/20 Productions, Otessa Ghadar was one of the earliest adopters of web media, putting her creative talents into her globally viral show, Orange Juice in Bishop’s Garden. The show started as her MFA thesis at Columbia University and has become one of the longest running Web series.

"I remember when I started there were only a handful of web series out there. It has been tremendously gratifying to see the industry grow and blossom. Being able to foster that growth through my festival has been a source of great excitement and meaning," says Ghadar.

Through compelling work, the mission of the festival is to entertain, educate and promote these new and innovative forms of modern art.

Entries from game developers, Web series creators and online documentary makers are still being accepted. Entries will be accepted through March 21 with a $70 registration fee. Final entries will be accepted by April 4 for $90. International entries are welcome.

The films shown in previous DC Web Fests have been featured in the Annual DC International Film Festival, making it a one-of-a-kind viewing experience for artists and admirers alike. Early bird tickets are available online for $10. Tickets include admission to the 6 to 10 p.m. viewing at the Goethe Theater in Washington, D.C.’s Chinatown. An after-party screening upstairs will feature dancing and refreshments.

With the closest metro stop being Gallery Place, the DC Web Fest is near to many attractions, including the National Portrait Gallery, featuring free WiFi and a café in a beautiful atrium; Chinatown Coffee, a great place for a mid-day regrouping; Ping Pong Dim Sum, a fun experience for a romantic dinner or a group outing; and Gibson Guitar Center, featuring unique and beautiful guitars in a beautifully lit room.
