“In Joyful Hope” will feature a massed choir along with the School Sisters of St. Francis Chapel Singers and vocal and instrumental soloists, performing a selection of pieces ranging in style from classical to folk, with multicultural elements. This will mark the third year that members of religious communities of the Archdiocese will present a concert to give witness to consecrated life in a manner that reflects the integrity and joy of the call to their ministries, said Sister Mary Jane Wagner, Director of the School Sisters of St. Francis Music Ministry and an organizer of the event. The concert is always free and open to the public; a free will offering is welcomed. One of the pieces will make its premiere is at this year’s concert: “As One Family,” by Steve Janco. It was written for the Year of the Family, and celebrates an inclusive vision of family that incorporates the family bonds created in religious communities. This concert will also feature one of the first full-score performances of Steve Warner’s “Wake the World With Dawning Joy.” The hymn is based on the words of Pope Francis to the consecrated religious of the world, and was commissioned by the National Religious Vocation Conference and the VISION vocation guide. St. Joseph Chapel is located at St. Joseph Center, the international Motherhouse of the School Sisters of St. Francis. Ample free parking is available in the St. Joseph Center parking lot at 29th Street and Orchard Street.
