Expert To Address Issues Of Aging And Developmental Disabilities

TROY, Mich. - March 10, 2015 - PRLog -- A critical challenge for families with special needs adult children or siblings involves how to best plan for their future as they enter their 50s and 60s.  It can be a perplexing and difficult proposition to develop a strategy that ensures the individual continues to enjoy their optimal level of independence and quality of life as they age.

On Thursday, March 19th from 6:00-8:00 PM, the Oakland University Center for Autism (OUCARES), in collaboration with On My Own of Michigan, Inc., will offer a valuable and compelling presentation by Tamar Heller, PhD, Chair of the Department of Disabilities and Human Development at the University of Illinois Chicago.  Dr. Heller is a nationally-recognized authority on issues related to aging within the developmental disabilities community.  Her presentation entitled Aging Adults with Developmental Disabilities: A Practical Approach for the Future will offer families and professionals timely and critical information to assist them in planning for the future with their developmentally disabled loved one.
