EDINA, Minn. - March 10, 2015 - PRLog -- Research shows learner-centric assessment practices are primary drivers of student learning. To help educators in effectively adopting these strategies, Naiku (http://www.naiku.net/), the provider of award-winning, next-generation classroom assessment software, announces the Professional Learning Series (http://www.naiku.net/naiku-professional-learning-series/) and its upcoming schedule. The monthly webinars are free for educators and led by trained psychometricians, professors, and other educational experts in a graduate seminar format.

With the growth in class sizes and movement toward mainstreaming, teachers are serving more students with a greater diversity of learning skills and knowledge in one classroom. It’s more important than ever for educators to efficiently differentiate instruction and personalize learning to accelerate learning for all students. Hosted by Naiku, the Professional Learning Series informs educators about research-based, technology-enabled assessment practices that help transform and accelerate student learning. Educators gain practical ideas to adopt in their classrooms and schools, and increased confidence in using learner-centric assessment methods, such as self-assessment, goal-setting, student reflection, bi-directional feedback, and adaptive learning resources, to differentiate instruction and personalize learning for all learners in a standards-based environment.

The following webinars will be presented through the end of the 2014-2015 school year:

·       March: Common Assessments – Using Data to Impact Successful PLCs

·       April: Creating a Learner-Centric Assessment Environment

·       May: Lessons from the Field – Successfully Implementing Common Formative Assessments Across a District

·       June: An Introduction to Reliability and Validity: The Meats and Potatoes of Assessment Theory

After a summer break in July, the monthly webinars will be offered from August through December 2015. The topics covered will include more lessons from the field, ways to improve teacher-developed assessments, and how to use assessments to drive a personalized learning environment.
