L.A. Wolves FC Open First Round Admiral Cup with 4-3 Win over Buena Park FC

L.A. Wolves Resume Play after Two Week Break and Score Four Goals in Final Twenty Minutes of Play to Secure Cup Win!

TORRANCE, Calif. - March 10, 2015 - PRLog -- March 7, 2015 – The L.A. Wolves FC (10-3-1) scored an exciting 4-3 comeback victory over Buena Park FC as the two clubs meet Saturday night at Toyota Sports Complex in Torrance, Ca. in a Round 1 Match of the UPSL Admiral Cup. The Wolves must now play Buena Park FC this coming Saturday on the road in the second leg of the Cup and make sure they play a solid and convincing match on the scoreboard as the aggregate away rule is in effect for the Admiral Cup.

After a two week plus layoff on both league and Cup matches, the L.A. Wolves started the first half looking a bit scrappy. Buena Park took advantage of some poor defending and scored two goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead with both goals from BP Forward Nate Da Rosa. Wolves Goalkeeper Kifi Kalani did well to keep Buena Park in check but could not do much on a point blank shot in the 26’ and a penalty kick 38’ minute of play that was converted.

After a halftime discussion, the Wolves came out on fire for the second half with regular starting Forward Luis Trujillo coming into the match to spark up the attack. The Wolves attacked with energy and a committed attitude to play catch up and in the 52’ off Midfileder's Yuki Kaneda corner kick, L.A. Wolves Defender Shannon Murphy headed home the ball past Buena Park’s keeper Steve Barrera which turned on the switches for the Wolves. With Murphy’s goal, the Wolves scored three unanswered goals in a span of twenty minutes with goals from Forward Sam Higgins (65’), Jose Riviera (72’), and Colombian Forward Luis Trujillo in the 83’. Buena Park would end up scoring a key goal in the 87’ minute by Midfielder Sam Rudich that could prove to be a killer goal being that the Admiral Cup is based on away aggregate goals. The Wolves need to play a strong match this coming Saturday to avoid being knocked out of the tourny.

Yan Skwara Head Coach of the L.A. Wolves FC said. “This was a good win as the boys showed toughness in an adverse scenario being down by two goals. I give Buena Park credit as they battled hard to the end. This was a Cup match which means a must win and that’s what we did, so now it’s on to their place but this time we need to play solid from the get go. We were missing some key starting players tonight and hopefully we will have them back this second leg match.
