DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - March 9, 2015 - PRLog -- SMA Behavioral Health Services, Inc. (SMA) is pleased to announce that they have renamed their Daytona Beach crisis center in honor of  W. Chester “Chet” Bell, the company’s former CEO who retired in December of last year. The announcement and a presentation were held at Bell’s retirement reception on March 3, 2015 at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

“Not only did Chet have a distinguished 30-year career with SMA, he made significant strides in education and rights for the behavioral health community over his career,” said Ivan Cosimi, SMA’s CEO. “Chet’s reception drew former SMA leaders, community leaders, and an amazing array of people that Chet has inspired and worked with over the years,” added Cosimi.

The W. Chester “Chet” Bell Crisis Center at Pinegrove is located at 1200 Red John Drive, in Volusia County, Florida.  The Center is the only licensed public receiving facility for behavioral health crisis services in Volusia and Flagler Counties, and provides emergency behavioral health screening, psychiatric stabilization, and detoxification services 24 hours a day, 365 day a year. This facility was the flagship operation of the merge between ACT Corp. and Stewart-Marchman-Center on October 1, 2008, the first of the more than 35 mental health and drug treatment programs to fully integrate services under Bell’s direction.

SMA has been serving the northeast Florida community with mental health and drug treatment services for over 50 years, and has offices located in Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns, and Volusia counties.  SMA’s mission is to deliver exceptional and comprehensive behavioral healthcare to our community.
