Stonefire Grills Roll Out New Dessert Thanks to Family Member…. One “Smart Cookie”

LOS ANGELES - March 9, 2015 - PRLog -- Stonefire Grills have announced the debut of a new dessert that has become an instant bestseller just days after its release.  But the recipe did not come from the restaurants’ kitchen staff or proprietors.  Instead it is based on a generations old recipe from Sandy Moreno of Lake Sherwood, who has never shared it before with the exception of her immediate family.  Since Moreno is an extended member of the Harrigan family, owners of Stonefire Grills, she generously offered to share the treasured secret that has been in her family for years.  Stonefire Grills have dubbed the new treat “Sandy’s Cookie” in her honor. The oversized dessert contains dark chocolate chips, Heath Bar bits, oatmeal and walnuts is available at all 7 locations for $2.79.

         “Of course I loved the cookie when I was growing up, but my mom never passed down an actual recipe because she was just an expert baker who went by instinct.  Since I am no expert in the kitchen, I had to follow her around and glean what I could and develop a step-by-step process that I could then follow.  My first few tries were disasters, but I finally perfected it and now I’m delighted that Stonefire Grills are enjoying such success with it.  I think my mom would be proud to know that our cherished family tradition will now be enjoyed by thousands of guests who visit the restaurants,” said Moreno, who shared that she revamped the recipe a few times to give it her own flair.

         Sandy’s Cookie fell in the hands of the Stonefire Grill team after Moreno brought them to a 4th of July family celebration and they were the hit of day.  Mary Harrigan thought they would be a sensation at the restaurants so she asked Moreno if she wouldn’t mind sharing the recipe.  It was introduced at the Thousand Oaks location and was an immediate hit.  The cookie has since developed a “cult following” says Justin Lopez, the restaurants’ spokesperson.

         “Sandy’s Cookie is quickly becoming one of our best selling desserts – even competing with our famous carrot cake that is based on a generations-old Harrigan family recipe,” said Lopez.  “We are so grateful to Sandy for her recipe and are proud to be carrying on her mom’s legacy with our Southern California guests.”

         A leader in the fast-casual genre, Stonefire Grill’s expansive menu features Lemon Garlic Chicken Breast, Baby Back Ribs, a wide assortment of salads, pizzas and pastas and several new vegetarian options including Golden State Kale Salad and Roasted Cauliflower Pita.  All items are available “to go” and each restaurant is designed with a special entrance dedicated to takeout -- the modern mother’s version of providing a wholesome, delicious meal for her family.  Locations are in Valencia, West Hills, Fountain Valley, Irvine, Chatsworth, Pasadena and Thousand Oaks.
