BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - March 7, 2015 - PRLog -- Are you a business owner or non-profit organization located in Irvington, NJ? Would you like some free publicity on the radio and local news outlets?  Then register and attend the “Its Time to Learn to Brag: How to Use Press Releases and Publicity to Grow Your Company” seminar, presented by Anna D. Banks, business coach; trainer and author of DIY Publicity Planner. The half-day seminar will be held 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Irvington Public Library, 5 Civic Square Irvington, NJ 07111.

As a long time Irvington resident I am convinced that good things do and can continue, to come out of Irvington Township. However, organizations and business must learn how to get the word out in ways that will entice people to come and take advantage of the wealth of resources.  Ray Horner Jr, Artist (www.rayhorner.com)

While many people have heard of what a press release is, they may not be quite so sure about what it is and how it can benefit their business. But make no mistake, a well-written press release can do wonders to help bring in business, along with other beneficial aspects.

“A press release is a highly effective tool in the business world,” explains Anna D. Banks. “The problem is, most people, businesses and non-profits organizations have no clue how to leverage the power behind it or just how beneficial it can be. It will be exciting to share this information with Irvington residents and businesses.”

During the workshop participants will:

•          Discover the value of publicity to your career, business or community

•          Use the media to position yourself as an expert in your industry, field or market

•          Create a professional image without feeling boastful

•          Get regular media attention

•          Create your first strategic campaign

•          Write an effective media release

In addition to the publicity and marketing workshop, the Irvington Library Centennial celebration will offer a series of programming throughout the year. The series will include financial literacy, poetry, children’s programing, and art and music programs throughout the year.  Please check the Library Website (www.irvingtonpubliclibrary.org)  for event dates and times.

About the Irvington Public Library

The Irvington Public Library has served the community since 1915. The 33,000 square foot building it now occupies was completed in 1968. It is located on Civic Square opposite Irvington High School and close to the Springfield Avenue shopping district. The building is accessible to handicapped people.

The Library has more than 180,000 books and 150 periodical titles. The non-print collection includes books on tape, electronic books, and DVDs .In 1998 the Library migrated to an automated catalog and circulation system, which has since been upgraded. The Library shares this system, called Clavis, with the Newark Public Library. Newark Public Library and Irvington Public Library honor one another's library cards, so Irvington Public Library members may borrow from Newark libraries and vice versa.

The Library offers a variety of free programs. Children's activities include story hour, a summer reading program, Halloween and Christmas parties, arts and crafts, bingo, and occasional special program
