PLYMOUTH, Mass. - March 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Plymouth & Brockton Street Railway Company (www.p-b.com), a  family-owned and operated transportation company that has served the region for more than 125 years, is now offering South Shore residents connections to New York City through their Providence RI route.

The route runs Monday through Friday, with the bus leaving Plymouth’s Memorial Hall at 7 a.m. and arriving in Providence at 8:20. The route includes stops at the Leona Drive Rotary/Campanelli Business Park, Middleboro. The next stop is the Park & Ride at the Galleria Mall, Taunton; then to Somerset, where the stop is at the Park & Ride at the Slades Ferry Avenue; and arriving at Kennedy Plaza in Providence. Passengers can then connect with the 8:40 a.m.Greyhound bus which arrives in New York’s Port Authority at 12:15 p.m.  A second trip leaves Plymouth at 3:05 with the same stops and arriving in Providence at 4:25 p.m. with a connection arriving in New York at 8:15 p.m.

A return bus leaves Providence at 9 a.m. and arrives in Plymouth at 10:20 a.m. A second trip leaves Providence at 5 p.m. and arrives in Plymouth at 6:20. Connections are also available from the Port Authority in New York City to connect to Plymouth through Providence. Fares for one-way travel from Plymouth to Providence are $16; for round-trip, $29. P&B will also offer commuter booklets. As the route gets underway, tickets can be purchased directly from the driver as the bus makes its stops. Other fares from Plymouth to Middleboro, $6 one way; to Taunton, $9 and to Somerset, $12. Round trip, to Middleboro, $11; Taunton, $16; and Somerset, $22.  Discounted 10 ride coupon books are available.

The East-West link offers connections to AMTRAK as well as buses in Providence. Connections are available for the RIPTA bus offering service to TF Green Airport.

“We have adjusted our schedule to better serve the commuter rider with earlier times and access to New York City,” said Christopher Anzuoni, Plymouth & Brockton (P&B) Vice President. “We are currently offering weekday services but we will explore a 7 day a week schedule for the summer months to accommodate tourists coming to Plymouth.”

Travelers will enjoy the comfort of a new MotorCoach Industries (MCI) bus, a state-of-the-art vehicle designed with greater legroom, state-of-the-art restrooms, Wi-Fi and 110 volt outlets for passenger convenience. The MCI model is designed for highway speeds, featuring a touring-level interior and wheelchair accessibility. The coaches offer ergonomically designed Kiel seats, and will accommodate 51 passengers for increased commuter comfort.
