GREENSBORO, N.C. - March 6, 2015 - PRLog -- North Carolina accounting firm, DMJ & Co., PLLC (DMJ), participated in the 15th annual Polar Plunge for Special Olympics North Carolina on Saturday, February 28. Organized by the Guilford County Sheriff's Department, the event was held at Wet N' Wild Emerald Pointe and raised more than $18,000 for Special Olympics.

The firm’s fundraising efforts resulted in $13,000 for Special Olympics North Carolina and DMJ was again awarded “Most Money Earned” by a group. The North Carolina accounting and wealth management firm was also recognized for its significant contributions to Special Olympics North Carolina, now raising more than $110,000 for the organization since its inaugural Polar Plunge in 2000. DMJ & Co., PLLC and DMJ Wealth Advisors, LLC has since plunged for 15th consecutive years, consistently leading the way in fundraising contributions.

DMJ’s 2015 team of polar plungers included firm accountants Jason King, CPA (Sanford), Eric Godfrey, CPA (Greensboro), and Susan Glynn, (Greensboro) of DMJ Wealth Advisors (as pictured). Photos of the 2015 event are available here.  Despite the winter blast that had invited up to 9 inches of snow throughout the week, dozens of teams from across the Piedmont Triad didn’t let freezing water temperatures (reported to be 17 degrees) discourage them.

"I have the opportunity to see DMJ's efforts in athletes' firsthand, to see how significantly a $10 or $100 contribution impacts one athlete," says Dana Beeson, DMJ Partner and Special Olympics volunteer. "I'm especially proud and grateful for my coworkers' commitment." Beeson, an audit and accounting partner, has been previously honored with the Presidential Service Award for her years of volunteerism with Special Olympics, both as a coach and mentor.

Director of Marketing, Caren Rodriguez, noted that more than 150 individuals, clients, and community members donated to Team DMJ’s efforts and to Special Olympics. Their generosity is credited with the firm’s longevity in fundraising, many of whom graciously share personal stories and experiences of how Special Olympics has made a personal impact.
