TAMPA, Fla. - March 5, 2015 - PRLog -- ICFF takes place on February 17 each year in honor of founding PPG member, the late Leah Roberts, with the aim of spreading the message that training animals using forceful and punitive methods is not only ineffectual but, in fact, counter-productive and aversive.

ICFF 2015 comprised six categories - Best Overall Picture, Best Dog(s) and Handler, Best Group Photograph, Most Creative Complex Training Video, Best Picture North America, and Best Picture Rest of the World – with an enticing array of prizes available for category winners.

Quebec-based dog trainer and behavior consultant, Danielle Godbout took the honors for Best Overall Picture and won the competition’s Grand Prize, The PPG Annual Convention Package, valued at $2,000. The package includes a $500 credit towards the winner’s airline ticket, hotel accommodation, food and full convention entry.

“We are very excited to be able to offer the winner the opportunity to attend our inaugural educational summit in Tampa, Florida this November,” said Niki Tudge, PPG president. “Godbout’s photo sums up perfectly the relationship between the owner and her dog and completely captures the joy of the moment. We are delighted to offer her our Grand Prize.”

In other categories, Amanda Ware won the Best Dog(s) and Handler with a full scholarship to DogNostics Career College, while the innovative CBS Square Dancing took the prize in the Best Group Photograph category with their interpretation of owners square dancing with their dogs. They win a collection of 10 DVDs, sponsored by Tawzer Dog.

Lisa Morrissey took the prize for Best Picture North America with her depiction of a dog learning to paint, and wins a $200 gift certificate sponsored by DogWise. Spain-based Louise Stapleton-Frappell won the Best Picture Rest of the World category with her talented trick dog, Jambo the Staffordshire bull terrier. She wins unlimited PPG Webinars for 12 months

The Most Creative Complex Training Video had some interesting submissions this year, including two videos of pigs demonstrating some impressive training moves. Porcine intelligence is well-documented so it is no surprise that many dog trainers like to train pigs too. The category winner was Sarah Rawson Harris with her video of a pig negotiating an agility course equally as well as any dog. Harris wins an entry to psychology professor Dr. Susan Friedman’s Living and Learning with Animals online educational course.

“As always, our members worldwide submitted an incredible array of photos and videos for the competition and it was extremely difficult for the judges to select the eventual winners,” said Tudge. “We are grateful to all those who participated and those who assisted with the judging and voting.”

PPG’s Force Free Summit - Reaching for a Higher Standard, is to take place at the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk Hotel & Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida on November 11-13, 2015.
