Olsen Sides With Political Donors Over Victims

STAFFORD, Va. - March 4, 2015 - PRLog -- Jason M. Pelt calls for Eric Olsen to return campaign contributions received in 2011.  On July 22, 2011 Eric Olsen accepted a campaign donation from James Moncure of 127 Bells Hill Road, Stafford, VA  22554.  During that same time, Eric Olsen listed his official voter address as 133 Onville Road, Stafford, VA  22554 and 127 Bells Hill Road, Stafford, VA  22554.  Those two homes were then owned by James Moncure.On February 6, 2015 James Moncure pled guilty to wire fraud and unlawful monetary transaction. Mr. Moncure’s legal troubles started in March 2014 when he sent an email to investors stating he could not repay them.

Over several years Moncure stole between 7 and 20 million dollars from investors, most from the Stafford and Fredericksburg local areas.James Moncure and Eric Olsen were very close during the 2011 campaign.  Not only was he a large contributor to his campaign ($2,000.00), but through campaign documents obtained from the Stafford County Registrar, Eric Olsen and James Moncure lived together at 127 Bells Hill Road, Stafford, VA 22554.  When the news of Moncure’s criminal activity surfaced, it was the Federal Government and not his good friend, Eric Olsen, that took the lead in protecting the

“The Commonwealth’s Attorney’s main job is to protect Stafford County citizens from criminals like James Moncure.  When Eric Olsen had the chance to take a lead in that effort, he sided his close friend and political donor over Stafford County residents.  I have met some of the victims of Moncure’s frauds, and they are left wondering why Eric Olsen would not stand up for them.”

Moncure is in bankruptcy as well as facing a sentencing in Federal Court.  The Bankruptcy court has liquidated assets in an effort to repay the victims of Moncure’s fraud however the chance of full recovery is doubtful.  The house located at 133 Onville Road, Stafford, VA  22554 has been sold along with several other properties.

“I’m calling on Eric Olsen to, finally, do the right thing and stand with the victims of fraud instead of his convicted felon friend and political donor.  He should return the campaign contribution to the bankruptcy trustee for distribution to the victims of Moncure’s criminal activities.  The mere fact that I have to publicly call on Eric to do this is one the reason why Stafford County needs a change of leadership.  Stafford can and will do better with Jason M. Pelt as your Commonwealth’s Attorney.”
