Daniel J. Ostlie, M.D. Joins MedAware Systems’ Scientific Advisory Board

BROOMFIELD, Colo. - March 4, 2015 - PRLog -- MedAware Systems, Inc. announced today that Daniel J. Ostlie, MD is joining the company’s Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Ostlie brings extensive expertise in the area of pediatric surgery, neonatal surgery, and research. He is currently the surgeon-in-chief at American Family Children's Hospital at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Prior to this, Dr. Ostlie served as a pediatric surgeon at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in Kansas City.

Dr. Ostlie specializes in minimally invasive and laparoscopic pediatric and neonatal surgery, thoracic and oncologic surgery, chest wall deformities, hernia surgery, surgical critical care and trauma and hypospadias repair. He also specializes in complex neonatal surgical diseases, difficult problems with the esophagus and gastroesophageal reflux, and surgical critical care of infants and children.

Dr. Ostlie’s research interests are focused on evidence-based pediatric surgery and he has participated as the primary investigator or co-investigator in more than 20 prospective randomized controlled trials in infants and children. He holds certification from the American Board of Surgeons in pediatric surgery, surgical critical care, and general surgery.

“Dr. Ostlie brings significant experience in medical research as well as surgical practice”, says Dr. Zung Vu Tran, Chief Science Officer for MedAware Systems.  “The knowledge and insight he brings to our overall data schema, and in particular for studies relating to pediatric surgery is invaluable”, he continues.

He is a graduate of the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Grand Forks ND.  Dr. Ostlie completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ.  He also was a Pediatric Surgery Fellow at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO.
