By: Black Duck Industries After completing those assignments, Mr. Carpinetti returned home to Massachusetts to pursue a career as a self-employed contractor. Even though projects were smaller in comparison to the ones he worked on previously, Dave’s experience and abilities served as a catalyst for not only creating much-needed improvements to the HVAC (Heating-Ventilation- According to Carpinetti, the primary motivation for creating change and starting a new company stems from the fact that “the industry, as a whole, began making improvements to HVAC equipment, but not to the systems that transport air throughout buildings where people live and work. This part of the industry has not seen any significant improvements in well over one-hundred years, so that’s where Black Duck Industries will focus its efforts.” “To start with, we are committing to a goal of bringing the systems portion of the HVAC industry into the 21st century with patented technology, by expanding upon innovations which I’m developing on a daily basis.“ Elaborating further, Carpinetti explained that, “in the near future, as Black Duck Inc. will begin producing duct and fittings which will quickly become high-quality, pre-insulated products that are simple and safe to install. This is going to cut the cost of installation of a system in half. “ So far, Mr. Carpinetti’s efforts show great promise for the HVAC industry. Even though he has already earned two patents, he continues exploring how to make system components even better. He has applied for eight additional patents for products relating to energy conservation and building sustainability, plus he has documented over twenty-five improvements to conventional duct systems which he says “will set the stage for dramatic improvements in the quality and efficiency of ducted air systems in residential, commercial, and industrial applications around the world, and additionally, are considered “game changing” technology by top engineers and HVAC professionals.
