CompTIA A+

Companies who want to hire someone to repair their computer look for candidates who have the CompTIA A+ certification.  The A+ offered by CompTIA consists of two exams: the first consisting of computer hardware and the second exam deals with maintaining and fixing operating systems.

When a student passes both exams: hardware and operating systems the A+ certificate from CompTIA is granted. This certification is valid for three years before a new exam must be taken to remain current.

The A+ certification tells a future employer that a candidate is qualified to repair and maintain computers manufactured by any vender. Computers break down, download viruses and need new software installed.  At times computers will break down because of user errors.  The job of a computer technician holding the CompTIA A+ certification is to keep all systems running in a company, organization or educational institution.  Computer repair technicians use their first certification as a stepping stone to more advanced training in the field of networking.
