Sleep Lab Celebrates Sleep Awareness Week with “All About That Sleep” Parody

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 3, 2015) – Sound Sleep Institute (https://www.soundsleepinstitute.com/), a national recognized sleep consultation, and treatment program comprised of IntegraSleep and Active Healthcare, announced their participation in Sleep Awareness WeekTM (http://sleepfoundation.org/events-activities/sleep-awareness-week) with the release of a music video to “All About That Sleep (http://youtu.be/N0_rp8s3-Ak),” a parody of the hit single, “All About That Bass.” Sleep Awareness Week is a national campaign run by the National Sleep Foundation to raise awareness and educate Americans about the importance of sleep. The event begins March 2 with the announcement of the NSF’s Sleep in America poll results and ends with the start of Daylight Saving Time on March 8.

Sound Sleep Institute chose to participate in Sleep Awareness Week with a video about sleep apnea because over 18 million American adults have sleep apnea, and an estimated 80 percent of sleep apnea cases are undiagnosed. The Institute’s music video showcases a common occurrence in undiagnosed sleep apnea cases where patients are unaware of the sleep disorder until their bed partner recognizes signs of sleep apnea like snoring and pauses in breathing.

“Sleep is one of the three pillars of health, in addition to diet and exercise, that often gets discounted or overlooked in our culture,” said Steven Feierstein, CEO of Active Healthcare. “Sleep Awareness Week is the perfect opportunity to revisit and rethink our quality of sleep and how we can make sleep a bigger priority for our overall health and wellbeing.”

To further promote Sleep Awareness Week, Sound Sleep Institute pledged to take Project Sleep’s SLEEP IN Challenge (http://project-sleep.com/sleepin/). Challenge participants agree to sleep in at least 12 hours to promote the importance of sleep, and Sound Sleep Institute will also participate as a way to educate others on the dangers of undiagnosed sleep disorders. This is the first international SLEEP IN Challenge where participants will stay in bed for 12-48 hours on the weekend of March 6-8.
