New Ecological Criteria to Award EU Ecolabel for Rinse-Off Cosmetic Products

New EU Commission Decision 2014/893/EU to define the criteria for awarding the EU Ecolabel under Regulation (EC) No. 66/2010 for rinse-off cosmetic products.
 
HONG KONG - March 2, 2015 - PRLog -- EU Ecolabel Assessment Criteria under Regulation (EC) No. 66/2010

A new EU Commission Decision 2014/893/EU (1) was published on 9 December 2014 to define the criteria for awarding the EU Ecolabel under Regulation (EC) No. 66/2010 (2) for rinse-off cosmetic products and related assessment and verification requirements. Decision 2007/506/EC is repealed by this new Decision 2014/893/EU.

Scope of the Decision 2014/893/EU for Rinse-Off Products

The scope of this decision includes:

- Any rinse-off substance or mixture falling under the scope of Cosmetic Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009.

- Products intended to be placed in contact with the epidermis and/or the hair system, e.g. toilet soaps, shower preparations, hair conditioning products, shaving products.

- Products for both private and professional use.

The scope of this decision excludes products that are specifically marketed for disinfecting or anti-bacterial use (However, anti-dandruff shampoos are allowed).
