Do we need an e-sports association?

Seriously, if you want to sponsor an event, who are you supposed to talk to? For now, you've got to talk directly with the event organizers. There are a LOT of event organizers.

March 1, 2015 - PRLog -- Right now, e-sports events are taking place all over North America, many without the benefits that big sponsors could bring. This is partly because the event organizers don't know who to contact for sponsorship. It's also because the people with money don't know who to contact, either.

The fact is that large sports organizations and events don't reach the audience that they could without large-scale advertising. (Think Super Bowl ads, or actual, physical banners.) Advertising means dealing with big-ass corporations. Big-ass corporations bring in lots of money, sure, but they also bring in certain restrictions and constraints.

People are saying that e-sports are the Next Big ThingTM in gaming. Well, it already is in many parts of the world, but North America has yet to fully embrace the phenomenon. This gives North American gamers a unique opportunity of potentially making change happen on their terms.

Could an North American eSports Association potentially help bring player advocacy to gaming and e-sports entertainment into the mainstream, or indeed, into the limelight in our corner of the globe?
