March 1, 2015 - PRLog -- With his album, Drive, released yesterday on iTunes, Phil Vaught is on a mission to help educate and bring awareness to Multiple Scleroses (MS)!   "It is a disease that I have found affects a lot of my fans and friends, often described as sneaky, hearing and seeing what they go through affecting not only them but their families and others, it was important for me to be able to use my voice, my platform to help educate others about MS!" States Phil Vaught

Phil Vaught grew up in Kentucky.  The son of a Minister and from a very musical family, he was exposed to music very early in life.  He was singing in church as far back as he can remember.  At age 11, his parents bought him a drum set, and he began playing at church services and with friends at social functions.  Soon after that, his older brothers started teaching him guitar and there was no turning back…

In addition to Gospel, Phil was exposed to many other music genres.  From his dad, he picked up on legendary country artists such as Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Bill Monroe, The Statler Brother’s, and many others.  His brothers, eight and ten years his senior, listened to Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Jr., Billy Joel, and Phil picked up something from them all.  His mother & sister, both accomplished classical musicians, also exposed Phil to an array of popular artists of current and past eras.

By the time Phil was in high school, he began performing at local and regional clubs as well as charities and benefits.  He became a well-established, in demand, respected musician and vocalist.  Fresh out of high school, he and the band hit the road and never looked back.

By 2003, Phil was so busy that he had bought a home in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He is known all over the country and abroad, playing over 200 shows a year at major venues here and overseas. Phil has played the stage at the Wildhorse Saloon more than ANY other artist in the history of the venue.

Phil’s album Drive became available February 28th, 2015 on iTunes!

According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society,  “Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, unpredictable disease of the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. It is thought to be an immune-mediated disorder, in which the immune system incorrectly attacks healthy tissue in the CNS.

MS can cause many symptoms, including blurred vision, loss of balance, poor coordination, slurred speech, tremors, numbness, extreme fatigue, problems with memory and concentration, paralysis, and blindness and more. These problems may come and go or persist and worsen over time. Most people are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, although individuals as young as 2 and as old as 75 have developed it."

One of the things I hear often from a friend is "I'm still in this body that I have no control over, MS controls me, I feel it is on a mission to take away any mobility and abilities I have to function on a daily basis.  Often, people just don't understand, education is key!"  Phil goes on to say, “knowing a cure is needed, seeing how MS affects people differently, I am hopeful that people will get educated and involved.”

Phil not only is involved with educating people about MS, his other passion is Music Therapy for Veterans!  “It is extremely important that we offer every type of help and therapy to the men and women who serve and served our Country, music therapy is a proven way to help PTSD and other different abilities.”
