NEW YORK - March 2, 2015 - PRLog -- The New York Opera Renaissance Gala Dinner and Concert will take place on Monday, 9th March 2015 at the spacious, state-of-the-art, acoustic 1100-seat Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Time Warner Center, New York City. The theme for this 4 hour event is "Celebrating the Life of the Late Maestro Julius Rudel".

The New York City Opera Renaissance event will feature a tribute to the late Maestro Julius Rudel who served for more than 20 years as the General Director and Principal Conductor. He contributed immensely to the New York City Opera and his tribute will take place at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall.

Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia dubbed the New York City Opera "The People's Opera" in 1943 at its founding. In 2015, over 70 years later, the New York City Renaissance will be renewing the New York City Opera's historic mission of inspiring audiences with theatrical and innovative compelling opera, nurturing the work of potential American artists and building broader audiences via reasonable ticket prices and extensive educational and outreach programs.

The New York City Opera Renaissance Gala Concert and Dinner will feature a Champagne Reception at the Ertegun Atrium, Gala Concert at the Rose Theater and a Gala Dinner with artists at the Appel Room. The Champagne Reception will welcome the guests who have purchased Gala packages and Premium Concert tickets starting at 6pm. All attendees will be seated for the Gala Concert at 7pm, during which performances by artists who developed their musical careers at City Opera, several under the mentorship of Maestro Julius Rudel, will be heard.  Gala attendees that purchase the dinner and concert packages can expect to enjoy dinner with the artists at 8:30pm in the beautiful Appel Room, after the concert.   After dinner, the Gala guests will be treated to a dessert reception in the Ertegun Atrium.

There are various artists lined up to perform during the New York Opera Renaissance Gala Concert and Dinner. These include artists who built their careers under the influence of the late Maestro Rudel. Artists scheduled to perform include:

Plácido Domingo - Tenor and Conductor
Sting - Singer, Songwriter, Multi-instrumentalist

Roy Niederhoffer, Chairman of New York City Opera Renaissance,  has  pledged more than $1 million to revive the company,  and for Michael Capassoto, NYCO Renaissance artistic director,  to take charge of its operations.  Niederhoffer highlighted that the Renaissance Board is composed of business and philanthropic leaders that  raised pledges in the seven digits. Niederhoffer says, “To date, I  spent $500,000 from my personal funds on the preparatory phase, $1.25 million for the company’s name, and “seven digits going forward.”
