Follow on Google News | UC Point unifies the Paul Hartmann AG’s corporate communications via cloud-based Lync solution• Smooth system migration and the go-ahead to configure 6,000 workstations with Lync, worldwide, within one year • Significantly improved communication flow and cost transparency today
By: UC Point Since recently, the Paul Hartmann AG has been communicating via Microsoft Lync. The global supplier of medical and healthcare products decided on this unified communications (UC) solution to increase the transparency of their costs and to optimise the use of resources. Since the use of different telephony and e-mail solutions made a company-wide integration especially complex, the Paul Hartmann AG brought the Lync specialists, UC Point, on board for the planning the implementation of a unified communications solution. UC Point is a leading provider of Managed UCC Services and supports companies in both the use of and also the migration to Lync (in the future: Skype for Business). Within one year, the Lync specialist’s technicians had migrated around 2,000 workstations at the Paul Hartmann AG to Lync 2013. The aim of the Hartmann Group is to complete the migration of a total of 6,000 users to Lync within the next months. During the migration, they also continued to use the traditional Siemens and Cisco telephone systems in parallel operation. At the same time, the change-over to Microsoft Exchange Online (Office 365) from the existing e-mail solution, IBM notes, also occurred. Helmut Schleifer, Project Leader for the Lync migration at Paul Hartmann AG, explains: “We had been searching for a unified communications solution for some time, but our heterogeneous infrastructure had created a challenging task. The path for a unified communications (UC) solution only became clear once the decision had been made to replace Lotus Notes (today: IBM Notes) with Microsoft Exchange Online and Office 365. Fortunately, Microsoft recommended their Premier Support Lync Partner, UC Point, who is very well versed in complex international Lync scenarios. The professional planning and backing allowed us to proceed with changing our entire corporate communications to a hybrid UC solution completely in accordance with our requirements.” Dario Buenger, a Lync and Office 365 specialist from UC Point adds, “The simultaneous migration of both the e-mail solution from IBM notes to Microsoft Exchange Online as well as the integration of Lync 2013 required the implementation of a hybrid on-premise/cloud solution and was a big challenge. The migration to the cloud solution Exchange Online (a component of Office 365) was necessary, however, to ensure the interfaces necessary for the systems of third-party providers like Siemens and Cisco.” Further details can be found in the case study of Paul Hartmann Group: http://www.uc- About UC Point Founded in 1998, UC Point quickly developed as an award-winning provider for global Unified Communications & Collaborations Services.
