LOS ANGELES - Feb. 25, 2015 - PRLog -- Lake Street Louie releases the much anticipated music video titled "The Update" following the single release last week.  "To me, this song represents moving forward. This is about my journey through life moving from one chapter onto the next and overcoming obstacles in my past. This track talks about coping with the stress of trying to navigate your career but at the same time trying to be true to yourself."

Lake Street Louie (formerly known as Kaiser Soze) says he would choose fame over money any day. The hip hop artist/rapper remembers being impressed by condensed cartoon hero stories about Achilles and Alexander the Great as a child. “Whatever they did in reality is altered in time but existed. Thousands of years ago and we still talk about them. People don’t live forever but names do. Music is the tip of the iceberg for me. I love the idea of people knowing my name from the music I make. My goal used to be reaching an audience but in the last five years, I have this hunger to prove myself right.”

Lake Street Louie grew up in a musical family. His parents spent years on the board of the Minneapolis Opera Company. At the age of six or seven, the young boy was performing in the Children’s Choir at the Minneapolis Opera. Even his extended family was involved in the music scene in and around Minneapolis. His cousin ran a hip hop station and brought him into the studio during sessions. An uncle is a world class musician with a fan base in cities throughout the country. Lake Street Louie was performing on stage with his uncle from the age of six. The rap/hip hop artist studied guitar, piano, and vocals as a child but says he has always liked vocals the best. When he was younger, he says he didn’t always appreciate classical music. But, today, he is grateful for the exposure to many musical genres, which is says influences his music.

Which artists had the biggest impact on his art? Lake Street Louie names hip hop pioneers like The Beastie Boys, Tupac, and Notorius B.I.G., as well as reggae artists like Tosh and Marley. He says Tupac had an understanding of music you can hear in his music. Like his role model, Lake Street Louie aims to make music he can listen to and be happy with, “not the dopest bars” but something other people can be happy with, as well.” Lake Street Louie shares, “Some artists don’t have the training and awareness of music but were born ith an understanding, just as some people can do math or are academically gifted. Artists like Kendrick Lamar don’t have a simple approach but are open-minded and experimental.”
