Retired Union Representative from Tennessee Wins 2014 Home Improvement Dream Giveaway®

GRAVETTE, Ark. - Feb. 25, 2015 - PRLog -- The 2014 Home Improvement Dream Giveaway®, a nationwide drawing sponsored by New Beginning Children’s Homes, ended on December 30, 2014. Barry Kennedy, from Whitleyville, Tennessee, was the grand-prize winner.

Mr. Kennedy was awarded a 2015 Ford F-150 and a $50,000 Lowes gift card. He received $30,000 to help pay the federal withholding requirement for taxes.

Mr. Kennedy entered the 2014 Home Improvement Dream Giveaway on November 13, 2014, by making a $40 tax-deductible donation. “I received a catalog last year that featured all the giveaways and decided to enter the 2014 Corvette Dream Giveaway®, 2014 Mustang Dream Giveaway®, and 2014 Home Improvement Dream Giveaway®,” he said. “We live in a house that is over 100 years old and we remodeled it back in 1992. It’s due for some upgrades so that is why I decided to enter the Home Improvement Dream Giveaway. We have a roof that needs fixed and we were starting to wonder how we were going to pay for it.”

On Wednesday, January 21, 2015, Mr. Kennedy received news via telephone that he had won the 2014 Home Improvement Dream Giveaway. “It was hard to believe at first,” he said. “My daughter calls me ‘Mr. Lucky’ now.”

Mr. Kennedy is retired from the Communication Workers of America (CWA) where he was a union representative. When he’s not busy taking care of his cattle, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

The winner had this to say to the people who still don’t believe this is for real, “It’s very real! I talked to some people after I won who knew about Dream Giveaway but had never entered before. They said they will definitely be entering in 2015.”

As excited as Mr. Kennedy was to be named the winner of the giveaway, he didn’t forget the causes his donation went to support, “One of the reasons I entered was because I wanted to help the charities involved,” he said. “I usually send small donations to various charities throughout the year.”

New Beginning Children’s Homes (NBCH) is a 501(c) 3 provider of family-style long-term residential care with a mission to provide foster children a safe and faith-centered family atmosphere where they can heal, grow, and be loved while working through difficult life issues. In addition to the funding they received, NBCH provided grants to several worthwhile charities, including Disabled American Veterans, National Guard Educational Foundation, National Association of Christian Churches, Smile Network International, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries.
