Follow on Google News | Remember the 80s at Carlisle GM Nationals WeekendMusic, Displays and Special Themes Take You Back in Time at the 2015 Event
By: Carlisle Events Back to the Future one liners aside, GM weekend celebrates the past, present and future of the hobby. All the GM family of vehicles are welcome, including the new 5th generation Camaro. Those cars, combined with 5th Gen vendors like SLP Performance, make shopping for parts at Carlisle simple. Best of all, the swap meet hosts thousands of automotive pieces and parts from all brands. Besides the IROC-Z anniversary and the 5th Gen presence, there’s also a very special Camaro in Building G. Camaro #001, the first 1967 ever produced at an assembly plant, will be featured in the 7th installment of the Solid Lifter Showroom. This incredible car, along with a special display of ’70 Yenko Deuce Novas, will make for a phenomenal feature this year. Take a step further back in time, not 1955 Hill Valley back, but close to it. Catch Detroit’s top chromed-out beauties from the ‘50s and 60’s as Carlisle welcomes what will be known as a mini-display of “Fabulous Fins.” Find the fins to the left and fins to the right of the aisles within Building T, and see some of the coolest and classiest rides ever to roll off the production lines. Vending is a big deal at Carlisle too as reproduction, used and NOS parts are all readily available. There is a Midway of vendors, additional spaces with those selling literature, memorabilia, collectables and parts, plus, SLP is not only sponsoring the 2015 burnout competition, they’ll be onsite with a nice array of 5th Gen Camaro parts to satisfy this growing segment of the hobby. In addition to the leisurely aspects of the show, you can go fast…real fast, with autocross at the Carlisle GM Nationals. The event welcomes back the Cumberland Valley Corvette Club who will be hosting open runs for Showfield participants throughout most of the weekend. It doesn’t matter if your GM is a classic or a modern-day example, the track at Carlisle is THE place to push it to the limit. Runs on the course come with a nominal fee attached, but the thrills, safety and convenience are worth a few extra dollars! Inclusion in the weekend is simple and affordable. If simply walking the grounds is your speed, a gate ticket is $10 per day, with kids 12 and under free. Conversely, if you have a GM of any type that you’d like to show, showfield pricing starts at $36, if registration is completed prior to the May 26th Gate-N-Go deadline. Showing gives you and a guest grounds access, plus a spot on the Showfield for each day of the event. There is also a Standard of Excellence judging class, where cars are given the white glove treatment for special event awards.
