Safeguard Self Storage Completes the Purchase of Land for a New Facility in Chicago

CHICAGO - Feb. 23, 2015 - PRLog -- Safeguard Self Storage has announced the purchase, on February 11, 2015, of a land parcel to build a self-storage facility on West North Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. The store will be the 74^th store for the company nationally when completed and the 15^th store in the Chicago metropolitan area. Three other developments, which will be the company’s 12^th, 13^th and 14^th stores in Chicago, are either under construction or in the demolition phase prior to construction.

“The Chicago area is an important market for Safeguard and this purchase will build on the company’s efforts to increase its critical mass there,” said Jim Goonan, Safeguard’s Senior Vice President of Development. “We have been building in Chicago for over a decade and have accelerated our development there since 2013.”

The 59,750 leasable square-foot facility will provide 861 storage units in various sizes. Amenities at this location will include heating/air conditioning, drive-up loading area, computer-controlled building access and digital/video recording of the property. As with our other recent developments in Chicago, the facade of the store will communicate the company’s brand and logo while being designed to blend in with the surrounding neighborhood.
