Tradeline Financials - Global Indexes Rally - Week 9, 2015

Following on from last week's positive close in the US, Asian indexes have started the week seeing gains despite having come back from an extended Lunar New Year holiday and continued concern over the crisis with Greece.

The Nikkei 225 has repeated late last week's rally as it continues to reach 15yr highs. A strong dollar and a rise in exports last week has seen the index remain positive and keep its gains of the past few weeks.

The majority of Asian markets return to work today with just the China Mainland still off for celebrations.

The main news in Europe is whether the reforms expected to be presented by the Greeks to the European Union Finance Ministers will be enough for them to agree the 4mths extension proposed late on Friday. The reforms may be a step in the wrong direction for the far left government but they have very little options open to them and need to make some kind of agreement before cash starts to become scarce as investors and saver start to withdraw their deposits.

The major markets in the US closed near record highs with the S&P and Dow both performing exceptionally well. They are however expected to be relatively cautious ahead of Janet Yellen's speech later on Tuesday which will conclude her 2 day conference on the economy and monetary policy. Her comments after last month's meeting led many to discuss if there would be a rate increase at all this year, we are back to waiting for her comments to see how dovish she is this time round.

Major Global Indices as of 23rd February 2015:

Hang Seng 24,834.85 (+0.01%)

FTSE 100 6,915.20 (+0.38%)

S&P 500 2,110.30 (+0.61%)
