Local music school partners with Abbott’s to host fundraiser dinner for Nuts for Mutts pet rescue

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Feb. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- The Rochester Academy of Music & Arts is proud to announce their second annual fundraising event for Nuts for Mutts pet rescue.

On April 17, the Abbott’s Downtown restaurant & creamery will be filled with pet lovers, music & celebration, as the Rochester Academy of Music & Arts hosts a fundraising bash to benefit Nuts for Mutt-- a certified nonprofit organization that aids homeless and abused dogs in Rochester. The event features a specially crafted dinner menu, live music, and a chance to win thousands in prizes from local businesses such as Wegmans, JCPenney, Pet Saver, and more. All proceeds go to Nuts for Mutts. Two dinner sessions will be held, one at 6:00pm and one at 7:30pm. Tickets, which include dinner, can be purchased at the Academy, or online at rochestermusiclessons.yapsody.com.

Mutts & Pups

Local musician Brannon Hungness opened the Rochester Academy of Music & Arts in 2007, and it has since become a major hub for local families. Hungness, who has used his business growth as an opportunity to give back in more significant ways, wanted to create an opportunity for charity work to become a family event. “Many of the fundraiser dinners I’ve attended featured cocktails and fancy hors d'oeuvres,” Hungness states. “I wanted to create something more inviting to families, encouraging parents to bring the kids along for a night of family fun, instead of having to leave them with the sitter.”

This isn’t the first time Hungness and co. have organized such an event. According to Academy Events Coordinator Brigid Harrigan, “We created our first fundraiser for Nuts for Mutts last March. With only a few weeks to plan, we ended up raising $2,385, including a thousand dollar donation from the Academy owner. This time, we want to up the ante, creating a bigger, better, event, featuring a full-service dinner and lots of exciting music.”

Hungness will be matching the donations received up to $1200. “Nuts for Mutts is non-profit, and runs completely on donations and volunteers,” explains Hungness. “It’s very important to help organizations who are doing great work locally. Plus, my dog Hector was a rescue from Nuts for Mutts. Hector is a wonderful friend, and I will always be grateful to Nuts for Mutts for saving his life.”

For Hungness, gratitude and generosity go hand in hand.
