Chicago women back Fourth Ward Alderman Will Burns

Feb. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- CHICAGO) -- “Women for Will Burns” hosted a special breakfast reception with the incumbent candidate for Fourth Ward Alderman on Monday, September 16 at the Hilton Chicago.  More than 75 notable Chicago women leaders showed their support for Alderman Burns’ campaign for re-election.  Special guest for the event was Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle who joined Host Committee members Shelley David, Hon. Pat Dowell, Sharlene Hobson, Bernita Johnson Gabriel, Shirley Newsome, Dartesia Pitts, Adrienne Pope, Anna Valencia, Melissa Weber, Wendy Walker Williams, Charise Williams and Andrea Zopp in putting on the event.

Of the gathering Alderman Burns said, “Women are greatly impacted by my fight to increase the minimum wage, provide paid sick leave and create good jobs with benefits.  There has to be more opportunity that allows people to better take care of themselves and their families.  I am truly honored to have their support.”

Earlier in the week Burns received the endorsement of several organizations that also represent issues of interest to women including Planned Parenthood of Illinois, The Sierra Club and Gun Violence Prevention Political Action Committee (G-PAC). Of their endorsement Kathleen Sances, executive director of G-PAC said, “G-PAC cannot thank you (Burns) enough for your courageous support for common sense gun safety and saving lives.  It is our great honor to endorse you.”
